12 FAMILY FRIENDLY HIKES in the United States – Exploring the United States via the Great Outdoors is an adventure worth pursuing over and over. And in the United States, trails and paths are abundant. Even city dwellers don’t have to venture far to find a path or trail to traipse and hike. If you’re looking for places to take the family, we have a list of family-friendly trails to hike, we have a list of 12 for you to explore.

1. Alum Hollow Trail

Distance: 2.2 miles
Location: Huntsville, Alabama

This wooded trail includes excellent views, a creek, and a waterfall.

2. Walking Dunes Trail

Distance: 2.6 miles
Location: Cape Henlopen State Park, Delaware

The journey through Walking Dunes will be an experience! View the Fire Control Towers, hike through maritime forest, and climb the Great Dune for a spectacular scenic view.

3. Tarrywile Park

Distance: 1 mile
Location: Danbury, Connecticut

The entire park is enchanting and makes for an enjoyable hike with the whole family.

4. Winner Creek Trail

Distance: 3 and 9 miles
Anchorage, Alaska

There are two branches to the Winner Creek Trail; Lower Winner Creek Trail is 3 miles, and Upper Winner Creek Trail is 9 miles. Stick to the lower for gentle terrain and elevation change. The Upper Trail is more challenging with greater rewards.

5. Lost Valley Trail

Distance: 2.1 miles
Location: Arkansas

This trail near Buffalo National River takes you on an expedition to Explore Eden Falls and caves, too.

6. Painted Canyon Trail

Distance: 1.1 miles
Location: Medora, North Dakota

The trail enters the South Unit of the Theodore Roosevelt National Park near Medora, North Dakota, and drops down into the ancient canyons for a unique perspective of the impressive formations.

7. Granite Gardens

Distance: 1.5-mile loop
Location: Prescott, Arizona

Massive rock formations and a staircase with a well-marked trail lead you through breathtaking granite backdrops.

8. Boy Scout Tree Trail

Distance: 4.8 miles
Jedadiah Smith State Park, California

Explore the giants under the shade of the Redwoods in the peaceful Jedediah Smith State Park.

9. Enchanted Mesa

Distance: 2 miles
Location: Chautauqua, Boulder, Colorado

This trail winds through forest and overlooks Boulder. There are many other connecting trails nearby to choose from as well.

10. Alfred A. Ring Park

Distance: 1.5 miles
Location: Gainesville, Florida

The dense forest trail connects to the Emily S. Ring wildflower garden offering immense beauty as the family walks along.

11. Hardin Ridge Trail

Distance: 2 miles
Location: Bedford, Indiana

The easy-going wooded trail takes you through the beautiful Hoosier National Forest.

12.Occoneechee Mountain Loop Trail

Distance2 miles
Location: Occoneechee Mountain State Natural Area, Hillsborough, North Carolina

The 2-mile loop takes hikers to the highest point in Orange County and along Eno River.
